In a recent video on TVC, Chidi Lloyd, a prominent political figure in Rivers, has made serious allegations against the state government, accusing it of being involved in the recent spate of violence during protests. Speaking to reporters, Lloyd claimed to have credible information pointing to the government’s direct involvement in the unrest.

Lloyd’s statements come amid heightened tensions and escalating violence in various parts of the state. The protests, initially sparked by grievances over governance and economic conditions, have taken a more violent turn, with incidents of property damage, assaults on journalists, and attacks on political offices.

Lloyd pointed to specific incidents, including the recent attack on the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the assault on All Progressives Congress (APC) offices, as evidence of the state government’s complicity. “Shortly after the distribution of bread and pure water, they were at the Minister’s residence, attacking APC offices and beating up journalists,” he said, implying a direct connection between the government’s actions and the ensuing violence.

According to him, “I have told you that I have credible information as to the sponsorship or involvement of the state government of Rivers State. I didn’t say it in vanacular. By the governor’s own showing, he said he will provide pure water and bread a few days ago. A witch cries in the morning, and a child dies; a witch cries at night, and a child dies in the morning.
